From the Headmaster's Desk - 27 March 2025

Dear parents, as we reach the conclusion of yet another busy yet rewarding term, I wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to our community. We have accomplished so much over the past few months. It has been a time filled with growth, learning, and countless memorable moments, and I am immensely proud of our students and their dedication to making the most of every opportunity.

Prep Circular - 27 March 2025

Dear parents, studies show that today’s children are less happy, less independent, and more anxious than any previous generation. Many struggle with social and emotional skills - finding it difficult to maintain eye contact, work through conflicts, or collaborate effectively. They can be impulsive and reactive, often lacking the opportunity for deep thinking and reflection. The question we must ask is whether childhood, with all its wonder and freedom, is slowly slipping away. Are children truly allowed to be children, or are the pressures of modern life shaping them in ways that take away their joy, curiosity, and natural resilience?

Prep Circular - 10 March 2025

Dear parents, one of the most exciting additions to the Prep school calendar this year is the introduction of Pupil-Led Conferences. We have introduced this initiative to encourage greater pupil ownership of learning and to provide a more meaningful way for pupils to engage with their progress. Traditionally, Parent-Teacher meetings involve adults discussing a child’s progress without any involvement from the child. However, in a Pupil-Led Conferences, the pupil takes the lead—guiding their parents through their learning journey, displaying their work, reflecting on challenges, and setting goals for the future. Teachers will not be involved in the discussions, as the focus remains on empowering the child to share their own experiences with confidence and ownership. Teachers will support pupils in preparing for these conferences by guiding them in self-reflection and goal-setting before-hand.

Dear parents, I trust this communication finds you well, and my hope is that you have managed to have somewhat of a breather while your children have been away at camp since Wednesday. As we draw the curtain on what has been a frenetic yet highly successful summer sports season, I want to take a moment to thank you, the parents, not only for the support you have given the school, but most importantly the support you have given to your sons and daughters who I know really cherish having you on the side of the field, next to the pool, or even just on the phone offering encouragement. The summer season has been defined by some wonderful achievements and a ‘heap’ of time and energy invested by all involved. From the dedication of our athletes to the unwavering support of our coaches and staff, this season has been a testament to the passion and commitment that drives sport at Woodridge.
