From the Headmaster's Desk - 7 February 2025

Dear parents, as we approach the end of the first month back at school, my hope is, that as families, you have managed to get into a rhythm in dealing with the franticness of the first term. So much has happened already this year and it is so good to see our student body taking up the many opportunities on offer, building positive relationships and developing resilience. This year the theme for the College is ‘Taking Responsibility’. ‘Taking Responsibility’ is such an important ingredient in developing young adults of significance. It is key to their personal growth and future endeavours.

Prep hosts Dr William Fowlds for an impactful talk on the rhino poaching crisis

On a recent visit to Woodridge Preparatory School, Dr William Fowlds, an internationally acclaimed conservationist and wildlife veterinarian, captivated students and staff with his emotional and deeply personal account of the rhino poaching crisis in South Africa. His story, beginning with the tragic rescue of a rhino named Thandi, has since become a symbol of hope and inspiration in the global fight to protect these majestic creatures.

Dear parents, as we come to the end of the second week of term, we are already able to reflect on so much that has taken place. The start of a year is always such an exciting time for all. Its been so rewarding to see the campus come alive again, as each student brings their own energy and enthusiasm to the College. At the Grade 8 welcome, the afternoon before school started, I encouraged our new students to do three things when the term started: embrace the opportunities on offer at the College, build meaningful relationships and develop resilience. These are key ingredients in making the year ahead, for all, a year of happy fulfilment.

Prep Circular - 24 January 2025

Dear parents, the start of a new year always brings a buzz of excitement, and it was wonderful to hear the joyful sounds of children around the school once again. Even the much-needed rain on our first day could not dampen spirits, though it was a shame we could not go ahead with the afternoon extra-mural program. Nevertheless, the Grade 4-7 pupils wasted no time diving into the term with their one-night Orientation camps. These adventures down the valley, through Lily Pad Pond, and up to Donaldson’s Barn are more than just hikes—they are opportunities for team building, fun, and friendship. Watching them return, tired but smiling, reminds us why this traditional camp is so special.
