Dear Parents

One of the most exciting additions to the Prep school calendar this year is the introduction of Pupil-Led Conferences. We have introduced this initiative to encourage greater pupil ownership of learning and to provide a more meaningful way for pupils to engage with their progress. Traditionally, Parent-Teacher meetings involve adults discussing a child’s progress without any involvement from the child. However, in a Pupil-Led Conferences, the pupil takes the lead—guiding their parents through their learning journey, displaying their work, reflecting on challenges, and setting goals for the future. Teachers will not be involved in the discussions, as the focus remains on empowering the child to share their own experiences with confidence and ownership. Teachers will support pupils in preparing for these conferences by guiding them in self-reflection and goal-setting before-hand.

Pupil-Led Conferences encourage children to take responsibility for their own learning. By explaining their progress, they develop a stronger sense of accountability and begin to see themselves as active participants in their education.
