Darryn Campbell: Deputy Head: Student Affairs, Discipline, Transformation & Diversity at Woodridge College – Building champions on and off the field

I am an educator at heart, driven by a love of learning, growth, and helping pupils discover their potential. With a BCom in Business and Accounting and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, I bring over 20 years of experience shaping young minds at schools like Pearson High, Crawford College Lonehill, Reddam House Helderfontein, and, more recently, Woodridge College.

My journey highlights a passion for strategic growth and mentorship. I have pioneered Water Polo programmes from scratch and designed Olympic-size facilities, while launching new and challenging sporting tournaments and leading teams to victory at national events.

In my roles as Deputy Head at Reddam House, Acting Deputy Head at Crawford College, and Phase and Grade Head at both schools, I have supported and guided Grade 12 pupils through their final year while also helping to build strong pastoral care and student wellness systems across the wider school. I have overseen key areas such as timetabling and the development of scholarship programmes, always striving to foster inclusive, values-driven communities where pupils feel supported to grow, flourish, and succeed.

As a family man and father of three, I felt a deep connection to Woodridge College and its Christian ethos. The school’s commitment to experiential learning beyond the classroom resonates strongly with my own beliefs about education and the holistic development of young people. I was drawn to the opportunity to be part of a community where values, character, and excellence are nurtured together, and I am passionate about playing a meaningful role in guiding our pupils to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.

Ndumiso Mtshali: Deputy Head: Woodridge Preparatory School – Nurturing hearts and building foundations

I am passionate about holistic pupil development, igniting curiosity, building character, and guiding young people through their foundational years with empathy and purpose.

I hold a Bachelor of Education, a Bachelor of Humanities, and an Honours in Alternative & Augmentative Communication. My career has spanned many positions in some of South Africa's top schools, including Waterkloof House Preparatory (Director: Pupil Affairs, Head of Boarding, Grade 4 Teacher), Pridwin Preparatory (Grade 6 Teacher), St Dominic's Priory (Grade 4 Teacher), and Harvest Christian School (Grade 7 Teacher).

I have hands-on experience in streamlining introductory programmes to guide staff and students through difficult transitions, mentoring personal growth through behaviour management, pastoral care, and facilitating clear communication with students, parents, and the school. I've coordinated events, alumni engagement, fundraising initiatives, and internship programmes, while building rapport and enhancing stakeholder involvement.

My return to Woodridge after teaching Grade 4 here for two years aligns with my goal of advancing my expertise in educational leadership and nurturing holistic student development in a family-oriented, values-driven space.
