WOODRIDGE CRICKET REPORT & SCORES: Saturday 3 February 2024
Woodridge took on Westering in home and away matches this weekend and again performed most credibly with good wins in three of the four matches played.
Playing at home, the Woodridge 1st XI contained Westering to a modest 173 all out, with destroyer-in-chief being Dimitri Alexandris, the promising Woodridge leg spinner. Dimitri, who has taken 25 wickets at an economy rate of 3,8 runs per over, took 4 Westering wickets for 47 runs in his 10 overs. Captain Randy Syce, also a legspinner, took 3 for 9 in 5 overs. Mention also needs to be made of all-rounder, Waydon Bopp, who took his 100th first-team wicket in a good display of accurate fast bowling.
Westering then showed admirable tenacity and put Woodridge under pressure in their pursuit of 173. Syce again demonstrated his promise with a well-controlled 65 and Bopp followed his 60 against Alex the previous week with a good 45 runs. Woodridge found themselves cruising to victory but losing wickets late in their innings put them under pressure but ultimately getting over the line with 8 wickets down.
The Woodridge U14A team dominated their Westering counterparts amassing a 506 for 7 in 50 overs. Jack Feltham, in an aggressive innings, that underlined his obvious promise, scored 159, supported by Kade Myburgh (79), Callum Armstong (57) and Jeandré Strydom (54). In reply, Westering was out for 83.
The U15A’s had a closer encounter with Woodridge in a low-scoring match. In reply to Westering's 69-all-out, Woodridge passed the score with 6 wickets down. In their only win of the day, the Westering 2nds, who scored 206 all out, beat Woodridge by 128 runs. Here follows the summarised results:
