Hockey
The annual Kingswood hockey derby was a closely contested affair that delivered competitive hockey. The two schools scored 13 goals each across the 11 games, which shows how evenly matched the derby was. While not all the results went our way, we are proud of the effort and conduct of our players.
The 1st team boys faced up against a strong Kingswood side on Friday evening in icy and windy conditions. Our boys patiently absorbed the pressure of the opposition attack in the first half and struck first with a well-worked goal on the counter. Kingswood eventually scored a goal in the second half, resulting in a tightly contested 1-1 draw.
Our 1st team girls were up against an experienced Kingswood side on Saturday morning, and the first three chukkas were a hard-fought affair with neither side managing to break the deadlock. Our girls were rewarded for their territorial dominance through a superb goal by Jade Kelly at the start of the final chukka. Kingswood, however, scored from a penalty corner shortly thereafter and our girls were unlucky to concede again late in the game. The final score was 1-2 in Kingswood's favour.

Rugby
We started on a positive note with a convincing victory by the U14 rugby team. They showed good defensive resilience to keep out Kingswood, who were spreading the ball wide and fast at the beginning of the game. The boys then managed to control the game and play to their strengths, returning with the 41-12 victory.
After conceding an early try at the start of the game, Woodridge showed true grit and determination. Both sides then scored two tries each, and Woodridge was unlucky not to score another try at the end of the game. It was a brilliant effort from all the lads, but unfortunately, the U15A team went down 19-12. The U15B team's unwavering perseverance against a formidable opponent is truly commendable. Despite the 48-10 loss, their relentless efforts and the two tries are testament to their never-say-die spirit.
The U16 team's resilience was unwavering, despite the 48-19 loss. Their fighting spirit was evident until the last minute.
The 1st and 2nd teams gave a good account of themselves and played some good rugby at times. They were unfortunately outplayed by a well-rounded Kingswood team.
