At Woodridge Preparatory School, we believe leadership begins long before a title is earned. It is found in character, service, courage, and the desire to make a positive difference. This scholarship programme identifies exceptional children entering Grade 4 who show the potential to contribute meaningfully to school life.

We are seeking well-rounded children who embrace opportunity, demonstrate excellent character, and are enthusiastic about learning, participation, and service. Successful applicants may be awarded a scholarship of up to 50% toward tuition fees only* and will become part of a programme designed to nurture leadership, build character, and help each child reach their full potential in the unique Woodridge environment.

Scholarship Criteria

This scholarship programme seeks pupils who demonstrate strength across a broad range of areas. While excellence is celebrated, equal importance is placed on character, attitude, involvement, and future potential.

Academic
Candidates should consistently demonstrate a strong academic work ethic, curiosity, resilience, and a genuine commitment to learning.

Character
Applicants should display qualities such as integrity, kindness, humility, respect, responsibility, resilience, and a willingness to serve others. We are looking for children whose character positively influences those around them.

Contribution
Candidates should actively contribute to the life of their current school through participation, initiative and a positive attitude. This may include serving others, embracing opportunities, participating fully in school life and leading by example.

Sport
Applicants should participate enthusiastically in sport, demonstrating commitment, teamwork, perseverance and a willingness to challenge themselves.

Culture
Candidates should be actively involved in one or more cultural activities, reflecting a desire to develop their talents and contribute to the broader life of their school community.

The Lead & Learn Scholarship Programme celebrates children who are curious, engaged and eager to make the most of every opportunity. We seek young people who will embrace the academic, sporting, cultural, outdoor and community life that makes a Woodridge education so distinctive.

selection process

Applicants will undergo an initial screening, after which shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in the selection process at Woodridge Preparatory School.

Candidates will also complete an age-appropriate academic assessment. Successful candidates will be invited, together with their parents, for an interview, providing an opportunity for the Woodridge leadership team to gain a deeper understanding of the child’s character, interests, aspirations, and potential, as well as the family’s alignment with the school's values and ethos. During the visit, there will be a guided tour of the campus, allowing parents and children to experience the unique environment and opportunities that define a Woodridge education.

Those invited to an interview will be required to complete a full Statement of Financial Circumstances.

Throughout the selection process, consideration will be given to each applicant’s academic potential, character, communication skills, curiosity, collaboration, enthusiasm and overall suitability for the Lead & Learn Scholarship Programme.

Important Information

The closing date for scholarship applications is Monday, 31 August 2026.
All applications will be screened. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
Short-listed candidates will be notified on or before Monday, 7 September 2026 and invited for an age-appropriate academic assessment on Monday, 14 September at 14h00.
Only short-listed candidates will be contacted and invited to the next stage of the process.

Following the outcome of the assessment, selected candidates will be:

Invited for an interview between Monday, 21 September and Friday, 25 September. This will also allow you to enjoy a guided tour of the Woodridge Prep campus.
Complete a full Statement of Financial Circumstances and submit all supporting documentation as requested to admissions@woodridge.co.za before Friday, 25 September 2026.

Those interviewed will be notified of the final outcome (successful or unsuccessful candidates) on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.

If you accept the offer, you will be required to complete a full standard online application for the enrolment of your child.

No correspondence will be entered into during the process of awarding bursaries.
