As we conclude Term 2, I am thrilled to share the remarkable achievements and events that have made this term at Woodridge Prep truly special. On the arts and cultural front, there have been a few events that showcased our pupils’ creativity, passion, and flair, starting with the "Woodridge Has Got Talent" contest. This wonderful initiative was the brainchild of Grade 5 pupil, Holley Diedericks. Together with Mrs Pienaar, she arranged this jaw-dropping event. Funds to the tune of R4500 were donated to the OLLI Foundation as a result of this contest.
Our music concerts were a joy to behold. The Foundation Phase concert had a delightful Disney theme, with children dressed as their favourite characters, while the Intersen Phase concert demonstrated our older pupils' growing musical prowess. The highlight of our term was hosting the Knock on Wood Arts Festival. We were honoured to have Dr Richard Cock, a renowned musician, conductor, and Woodridge Prep alumnus, as our guest of honour. Dr Cock shared a touching story about how his love for music was nurtured here at Woodridge, emphasizing the lasting impact of music education.
In his opening speech, Dr Cock shared a powerful message about why we teach music.
