Dear Parents

As we began Term 2, we gathered as a Preparatory School around a simple but powerful message: start small, plan well, and finish strong. It is a message rooted not only in performance, but in character, discipline, and consistency. There is something uniquely energising about the winter season at Woodridge. The fields, courts, and astro turf come alive with competition, courage, and camaraderie. There is a tangible buzz across the campus—conversations filled with anticipation, encouragement, and team spirit. It is, without doubt, one of the most special times in our school calendar.

In our opening assembly, we challenged the boys and girls to recognise that success—whether on the sports field, in the classroom, or in life—is not built on talent alone. It is shaped through planning, preparation, and the daily choice to be consistent. We spoke about competing fiercely, not giving an inch, and embracing every moment with determination—while never compromising on character or values. Alongside this, I have been reflecting deeply on what sits at the heart of all of this: the role of family.

The recent holiday offered many of us the gift of time, time that is increasingly rare in a world filled with distractions. Yet, if we are honest, it is also a world that competes relentlessly for our attention.
