Dear Parents

As we reach that time of year again when children across South Africa sit for their examinations, I cannot help but reflect on what this really means for them. For many pupils, and their parents, it is a stressful time filled with pressure, late nights, and nerves. I would like to share some personal thoughts on this topic. These are my own views, not necessarily those of the school. 

When we talk about examinations in primary school, we are talking about children who are still growing - emotionally, socially, and intellectually. They are still learning how to manage feelings, focus, and handle pressure. Yet, we ask them to sit formal examinations that reward short-term recall rather than genuine learning. I often wonder if this is really what learning should look like at such a young age. 

Do examinations truly prepare our children for the world of the future? Do they spark curiosity and excitement? I am not so sure....
