
Dear Parents
As winter starts to show its hand, it is difficult to comprehend that we are already in June – halfway through the year! With the crisp mornings and sunny days, this time of year is the perfect time for outdoor pursuits. June, in our area, is such an invigorating time of year – a time to savour the blue skies, enjoy the elegance of the Southern Right whale's arrival along our coast, and the inviting walks in nature.
The onset of winter also brings with it the dreaded flu. The past two weeks have seen a significant increase in students having to go to the San or stay at home. This results in missed school time at a crucial stage of the term as we prepare for the upcoming examinations. Please stress to your children the importance of looking after their health and well-being. Things like getting sufficient sleep, eating healthily, and staying warm after exercise are critical to good health. Please help and support us in getting the adolescents in our care to understand the importance of taking responsibility for their health.
This past weekend, I attended a ‘marketing expo’ in Zimbabwe. It is good to see the country finding its feet again, and this reminded me of the true African Spirit we get to experience on this wonderful continent. On the 25th May, we celebrated Africa Day – a day where we recognise the strength in our diversity. This day reminds us of our shared history and endless potential.
