Woodridge College and Preparatory School proudly joined the Eco-Schools programme in 2004. Over the past two decades, our environmental achievements have been commendable. Despite a pause following the devastating fires of 2017,

during which we had achieved international status, we re-engaged with the programme in 2024, marking our entry into the Diamond Decade. As a Round Square School with a core emphasis on environmentalism, we are delighted to be part of this essential and progressive initiative.
Eco-Schools, an international programme developed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), supports environmental learning in classrooms. Active in 68 countries and 59,000 schools worldwide, the programme has been implemented in South Africa since 2003 by WESSA. It aims to encourage awareness and action around environmental sustainability in schools and their surrounding communities, supporting Education for Sustainable Development within the curriculum. Eco-Schools significantly contributes to enhancing education in South Africa.
The programme accredits schools committed to continuously improving their environmental performance.
