Woodridge played against the U15A, 2nd team and 1st team of Westering in a T20 format on Wednesday, 1 February 2023. The U15 Woodridge team won the toss and decided to bat first. After losing one wicket early on, we needed a cool head just to calm things down.

Miles Feltham did just that. He formed a very good partnership with Cameron Ferrant. Miles Feltham batted phenomenally without giving any chances to the opposition. He ended up scoring 127 runs off 80 balls, not out, resulting in a score of 199 for Woodridge. Westering started off well but started losing wickets as soon as the Woodridge slow bowlers came on. Saliswa Masoka, our leading wicket-taker, was in and among the wickets again with Julian Teulon joining him by taking 2 wickets a piece. Woodridge managed to restrict Westering to 124 runs in their 20 overs. The Woodridge U15A team won by 75 runs.
The 2nd team lost the toss and were sent in to bowl first. Westering was slow out of the blocks, having no answer to the force of the Woodridge opening bowlers, with Keagen Collett picking up 2 wickets in the first over and Cwenga Ncapayi following suite, grabbing an important wicket in his first over. Westering was 4 wickets down at the end of the 3rd over, having only 7 odd runs on the scoreboard. Our fielding was tight, with high energy all around in the first 10-13 overs, however we got a little loose with the extras in the latter end of the innings, but managed to restrict the Westering score to only 85 in 19.4 overs. Special mention to Okuhle Mkhize who in his first bowling spell of the year took 3 for 6 in 2 overs. Keagen Collett displayed great consistency, grabbing an impressive 3 for 13 in his 4 overs. Woodridge went in to bat with one thing in mind, rotating the strike to keep the board ticking, while preserving our wickets. It did not take long for opening Batsmen, Zche-Keane Killian and Oliver Puttergill, to forge a solid partnership chasing the score down in spectacular T20 fashion in only 8.4 overs. Special mention to Oliver, who put up 39 not out and Zche-Keane Killian who had his best showing of the year thus far, putting up an impressive 33 not out. Woodridge won the game by 10 wickets.
In the 1st XI game, Westering won the toss and elected to bat. They made 76 runs in 14.5 overs. With Woodridge bowler Ethan Moothoo taking 2 wickets for 4 runs in 0.5 overs. Woodridge then came in to bat against a good westering bowling side. Woodridge struggled to gain traction but finally made the score on 19.2 overs and 3 wickets down. Jaydin Damons made 19, not out. Woodridge won by 7 wickets.
On Saturday, 4 February, we took on Brandwag. The U14A Woodridge boys won the toss and batted first on a grassy, but good wicket at Woodridge College. Woodridge got off to a good start, reaching 32 for no wickets after 7 overs. After the 1st wicket fell, many fell, leaving us with a score of 70 for 6. Thanks to a generous amount of extras, we ended on 156 all out after 32 overs. We were in action on the ball, striking 4 times before lunch, with Barend de Klerk getting 1 wicket and Iviwe Ngangelizwe getting 3, leaving Brandwag 28 for 4 at lunch. We bowled Brandwag out for 48. Iviwe Ngangelizwe took 3 wickets in 4 overs, Barend de Klerk 1 wicket in 2 overs, Jay-Reece Madatt 2 wickets in 3 overs and Sonwabise 3 wickets in 3 overs. It was a dominant, all round effort from the U14 team.
The U15A Woodridge team took on the U15A Brandwag team in very hot conditions. Woodridge took one look at the pitch and decided to bat first. After losing a couple of early wickets, Woodridge needed to regroup. Miles Feltham and Daniel Darlow put together a sensible partnership that took a lot of effort because the wicket was very tricky. The boys struggled to adapt to the Brandwag pitch and lost wickets regularly and only managed to post a total of 133 in 22.4 overs. At the change of innings, the coach and the bowling unit decided that bowling wicket to wicket would be our best bet. We managed to get an early wicket off the very first ball. After a well deserved partnership, the Brandwag captain batted well and got their chase back on track. Woodridge bowlers were good, but unfortunately the fielding let the team down with a few crucial drop catches and misfields. Brandwag managed to chase the score down in 23.3 overs. Woodridge lost by 5 wickets.
The 2nd team took on the 2nd team of Brandwag in a 40 over match. Woodridge lost the toss and were sent in to bat. With batting the full 40 overs in mind, Woodridge came out attacking and at one point were going at almost 11 runs an over. Woodridge only lost their first wicket in the 21st over. Oliver Puttergill and Zche-Keane Kilian put on a 156 run partnership for the first wicket. Oliver Puttergill was in great form, getting to his first 100 with a six over mid-off after just 97 balls and Zche-Keane Kilian with 50 off 60. There were contributions all the way down the batting order with Tristan Torrance blazing his way to 40 off just 23 balls. Woodridge posted a mammoth 325 for 5 in 40 overs. A demoralised Brandwag then went in to bat and were in early strife at 39 for 3. Special mention must be made of Keagan Collett who was virtually unplayable, bowling his eight overs on the trot. Brandwag went to lunch at 40 for 5. After lunch they knuckled down for a 40 run partnership before Lukhanyo Ndulama broke the back of the Brandwag batting line-up, taking a hattrick and reducing the visitors to 80 for 8. After some stern resistance from Brandwag, we finally bowled out Brandwag for 116 runs. Woodridge won by a massive 209 runs.
Woodridge 1st XI came up against Brandwag 1st XI on Saturday. Woodridge won the toss and elected to bat. The heat of Uitenhage did not discourage the Brandwag team, who got a few quick wickets early in the 1st innings, however Jaydin Damons managed to stay put and ultimately made his 100. Woodridge made 248 runs all out, with Jaydin making 119 runs. After lunch with the relief of cloud cover, our boys came in to bowl. Woodridge bowled Brandwag out for 100 runs with a mighty spell from Waydon Bopp who took 7 wickets for 17 runs in 6 overs. Woodridge won by 148 runs.

Zenande Shenxane took 2 wickets in 2 overs and our captain, Lana von Hagen, took 3 wickets in her 4 overs.
