Falcon Rock is situated just a short drive from Port Elizabeth and nestled amongst the stunning slopes of the Lady’s Slipper Mountain, close to the wild expanses of Van Stadens Wild Flower Reserve. With a unique restaurant and accommodation on offer. this friendly, relaxed and welcoming venue offers an enchanting experience for families and friends. The glorious mountain backdrop and lush indigenous trees is truly a stunning setting for visitors, whilst tucking into a meal or having drink out in the country.

The Lady Slipper Hiking Trail can be accessed from Falcon Rock. This strikingly beautiful mountain reserve is the property of the Mountain Club of South Africa. The trail takes about an hour and a half to two hours to complete (up and down). Use of the trail is R30 per person and visitors are required to sign an indemnity before proceeding. This is available at the Adventure Centre’s office. Unfortunately, they do not have card facilities so bring cash along. As the peak is a rough mountain track rather than a manicured trail, it is best suited for fit and sure-footed hikers. The mountain is said to resemble an up-turned high-heeled shoe, hence the name, Lady Slipper.


Gamtoos River Mouth National Reserve is situated within 30 minutes of Woodridge and offers a journey of discovery along the sandy white beach, the Indian Ocean and beautiful dunes. It is the ideal destination for fishing, canoeing, paddle skiing and sand-boarding. Private accommodation is available via Airbnb or look for alternative options on www.lekkeslaap.co.za

Jeffreys Bay is renowned worldwide as a delightful holiday destination. It incorporates Aston Bay, Kabeljous-on-Sea and Paradise Beach. The bay stretches from Cape Recife in the east, through to Cape St Francis further west while the village lies 80km west of Port Elizabeth midway between the Gamtoos and Kromme Rivers, and the two estuaries of the Kabeljous and Seekoei Rivers. With endless beaches and a year-round summer, Jeffreys Bay is renowned for its surfing waves and different surf breaks, each possessing its own magic. Favourite surfing spots include Kitchen Window, Tubes, Super Tubes, Point and Albatross.

If you would like to learn to surf, look up Wavecrest Surf School. Established in Jeffreys Bay in 2005, it has been going strong ever since. Situated on the main beachfront near many restaurants and good chilling spots, the atmosphere is awesome, while lessons are professionally set up to teach all you need to know to get you on your way. Lessons are 2 hours long and it includes the use of a board and wetsuit.

When St Francis is mentioned, many recall the perfect waves showcased in the iconic 1966 surf movie, The Endless Summer. Today, the town of St Francis is famous for several more reasons, other than surfing.
