Sport
Sport is a vital part of the curriculum at Woodridge, not only for promoting physical development and co-ordination, but also to build character and nurture self-confidence. While we believe that competition against other schools encourages the development of self-control, co-operation, loyalty, unselfishness, determination, commitment, leadership, team work and initiative we also feel that sport should be played
for the right reasons, is educationally sound and with enjoyment being a priority.
At Woodridge it is compulsory to participate in sport. Each term, the various choices will be presented to pupils and each pupil will have to select at least one summer and one winter sport. Attendance at all practices as well as matches is necessary and if any pupil is “Off Sport” for any reason, they must produce a doctor’s certificate, a sanatorium note or letter from their parents.
We are very proud of the achievements of our sportsmen and women over the years and our latest success story is Colin Ingram, South African Protea Cricketer.
Results of sports fixtures will be featured in the Headmaster’s bi-termly newsletter.
