Girls’ Boarding

CARTER RESIDENCE

Carter is a double-storey residence which was built in 1969 in the Old Cape Dutch style. It was originally erected as a boys’ residence, but substantial renovations have rendered it very ‘livable’ for young ladies.

All the dormitories are named after Western Cape Wine Estates and each dormitory sleeps four to seven girls (Grades 8 to 11).

A cosy common room allows for relaxed hot chocolate and coffee evenings around the fireplace. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen for those who love the late evening snacks, such as popcorn and Two Minute Noodles!

The Carter girls enjoy a safe and stable environment and are fortunate to have the added advantage of easy access to the school facilities, such as the swimming pools, astro turf and tennis courts.

Not only is Carter a warm, cosy and homely environment, regular social activities and interaction ensures an enjoyable boarding experience.

FOUNDERS RESIDENCE

Founders Residence accommodates all the Grade 12 girls in a wonderful building with magnificent views of the Van Stadens gorge and surrounding mountains. While the Grade 8 to 11 girls are accommodated in Carter Residence, regular interaction between the residences ensures meaningful contact, and leadership opportunities are exercised.

As a boarding house, Founders has many fun activities for the girls. These include Valentine dinners, movie nights, birthday braai’s as well as friendly sporting competitions against the other residences.

Founders’ girls, as with all Woodridge pupils, are encouraged to take part in all extramural activities, including music, drama and sport. The girls are a closely-knit and supportive group which helps create a family and homely environment.
