Woodridgean Sports Club
It was with great excitement that final agreement was reached regarding the merging of the Woodridgean Club (Woodpecker) and the Thornhill Country Club, officially giving birth to the Woodridgean Sports Club on 1 January 2006. With the long and healthy association between the School and Thornhill Country Club, the transformation was a painless one. The constitution has been amended and the necessary documentation taken place. The “new” club not only formalises the association with the Thornhill community and all their members, but also provides the opportunity for all Old Woodridgeans to become active members of the sports club. At present the club has one cricket side that plays various fixtures in summer and two hockey teams, men and women plus a boys and girls school team, that play in the Eastern Province leagues. Social squash also takes place throughout the year. The club has access to school facilities, which includes the new astroturf. The club also provides a base for all Old Woodridgeans to meet and socialise.
The 2008 Club Committee is made up as follows:
Chairman C D Neave (Headmaster, Woodridge)
Vice-Chairman Steven Mains-Sheard
Treasurer Birgit Puttergill
Manager Tyrone Warner
Secretary Sandy Whitehouse
Committee Members Craig Puttergill (OWA)
